The wave discount is a progressive discount mechanism, used especially in the supermarket. The price of a product decreases in successive stages — "waves" — as it approaches a deadline (expiration, end of season, stock liquidation).
Each wave has an activation date and a fixed percentage or price. The system automatically applies the active wave without manual intervention. The transition from one wave to the next is done overnight, with the automatic application of prices.
