If two-factor is set for an employee, the till asks for the code after the password and after the PIN. The PIN already ties the sign-in to a till, but it is short; the code makes sure the person at the till is the employee the PIN belongs to.

The method is set by the administrator in Datagate, per employee (see Two-Factor Sign-In). The till has no setting of its own.
The code is emailed to the employee when they sign in. They type it at the till and continue.
The employee types the code shown by the app on their phone. A lost phone: one of the recovery codes works at the till the same way.
The app must be set up first, on the web sign-in page - the till does not show a QR code. An employee who has not done it is refused at the till until they do.
The code must be entered within 10 minutes of the password or PIN. After that, the employee starts the sign-in again.
Two-factor at the till fits managers and the roles that can cancel, return or open the cash drawer. For cashiers who sign in many times a day, weigh the extra step against the risk.
